Features "Headliner" Co-founder of Arrested Development and Matt "Showbiz" Jackson from the Harlem Globetrotters

  TOUGH CHOICES™
"Building Authentic Character from the Inside Out."

Healing the Past and then Practicing the Character Building Skills of:

  • Responsibility
  • Honesty
  • Respect
  • Self Control
  • Tolerance
  • Cooperation
  • Citizenship and Patriotism

How this program creates authentic character development:

Rationale: Developmentally, socially and emotionally, all middle school students are desperately fighting for personal power. Across all economic and cultural strata students are having great difficulty dealing with their past and present experiences which create the negative messages in their automatic thoughts. These thoughts often cripple their ability to learn, thrive and succeed. ("I’m not good enough". "I am not lovable, safe etc.") These negative thoughts and emotions need to be addressed and healed before we can replace them with new survival skills that build character and personal power.

A Four Part cognitive-emotional-behavioral video-driven curriculum for building character, managing anger, and strengthening self-esteem – (see table of contents for specific character education required objectives)

1. A Wake-Up-Call – examining the areas where life is just not "working" through gripping videos of real
    teens and processing group activities.
2. Willingness to Change – What is my part in this problem? Group processing activity.
3. Deleting the Negative – Giving up grudges and forgiveness group activities and video.
4. Using new Survival Skills – Acquiring personal power using emotional/anger management skills,
    discovering talents and giving back.
